Tuesday March 19, Damien Mascret explains on the 20 Heures set why hidden sugar in food poses a health risk.
Too much sugar can harm your health and not just your teeth. But sometimes, the sugar advances hidden. According to ANSES, the National Food Safety Agency, 77% of processed products contain sugar. For example, a packet of crisps is made up of the equivalent of 14 sugar cubes. As a reminder, an adult should not exceed 20 cubes of sugar per day, reports journalist Damien Mascret on the set of 20 Heures.
Sugar is bad for your health
Sugar even hides in unexpected places, like savory dishes. Example with an industrial portion of shepherd’s pie which contains six sugars. “In total, we often consume more than the maximum 20 squares allowed. The result is, first of all, overweight and obesity”, says Damien Mascret. Excess sugar is transformed into fat. In addition, obesity increases the risk of cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
