United States: pro-Palestinian students set up tents in front of a campus

At Columbia University in New York, pro-Palestinian students decided to denounce the fate inflicted on Gazans. They set up tents in front of their campus.

“Welcome to college to those who support Palestine.” This is one of the banners that can be read at the entrance to a New York campus (United States), Wednesday April 24. At Columbia University, students set up tents to denounce the plight of Palestinians in Gaza. They want the university to renounce all its commitments with Israel. The camp was set up on the morning of April 17. Management called the police to dismantle it.

Students arrested

Many students were arrested, like Catherine, 26, a master’s student. They were released very quickly. Catherine has resettled in the camp. “Everything I had was destroyed by the police”, testifies the young woman. The students remain determined. “I decided to denounce this country which not only finances but also manufactures many bombs in Gaza”, she laments. Not everyone shares the same opinion. Other students reaffirm their support for their country.
