Guillaume Lacroix, President of the Radical Left Party and head of the “Europe Territories Ecology” list in the European elections was the guest of “8h30 franceinfo”, Saturday May 4, 2024. He answered questions from Victoria Koussa and Benjamin Fontaine.

Pro-Palestinian mobilizations: “It is as always a minority which only speaks from one angle of the subject”

After a week of eventful mobilizations in several Sciences Po institutes in France and at the Sorbonne, Guillaume Lacroix judges that it is time to “find peace in the country”. The president of the PRG regrets that the youth “does not mobilize in the same way to explain, on October 8, that what happened the day before is absolutely unbearable”. For him, youth “ultimately only mobilizes at the injunction of the extreme left”.

Europeans: “I would like the left to stop shaming me”

In the last European elections, in 2019, the PRG joined the list of the Socialist Party. The president of the PRG explains that if his party did not join the list carried by Raphaël Glucksmann, it is precisely because it is that of the PS. “The list of the Socialist Party highlights and places in the best positions those who, a few months ago, explained to us that voting LFI (…) was the quintessence of the union of the left”gets carried away by Guillaume Lacroix, adding that the PRG is doing “the union of the left for 30 years”.

“I would like the left to stop shaming me”, he castigates. According to him, “the left that is exploding is the Nupes”. “Our list and my party have never been in the Nupes”he recalls. “That we have, every day, yet another episode of the Nupes’ ‘The Young and the Restless’, that’s their problem”he adds.

“My problem is France which doubts”, asserts Guillaume Lacroix. He claims that his list brings together “people anchored in the territory, regionalists”but also “social democrats, some of whom returned from the left-wing Macronie, others who were in Bernard Cazeneuve’s movement”. “It is a very broad gathering of women and men who think that we need a Europe that protects us, that is to say a Europe that responds on a daily basis.”
