A new investigative book by journalist Victor Castanet, published on Wednesday September 18, denounces abuses in private daycare centers.

Abuses in private daycare centers, according to the investigative book “Les Ogres” by Victor Castanet, which is published on Wednesday, September 18. The journalist had revealed the scandal of the Orpéa nursing homes. Abuses and a race to fill up that could have been at the origin of cases of mistreatment, burnout of professionals engaged in the field or even non-compliance with the supervision rate. An investigation reveals that at least nine children were victims of this abuse. The director and the nurse are being prosecuted for physical or psychological violence, but also for deprivation of food or care, to the point of compromising a child’s health. In his investigation, the journalist exposes the cost optimization practices, a low-cost dynamic, which have harmful impacts on the entire sector. In total, 2,478 daycare centers were inspected by the CAF in 2023. In total, nearly 28 million euros of undue sums were recovered.
