Two men incarcerated in Bordeaux prison were seriously injured in a possible settling of scores. According to the family of one of the detainees, currently hospitalized, the establishment does not guarantee any additional security measures, which makes relatives fear the worst.
Alexandre Battah found himself in a hospital bed at the end of December after being stabbed by another prisoner.
One of the detainees allegedly asked the young man, a barber by profession, to cut his hair. A few minutes later, the individual armed with a sharp object threw himself on him.
“He curled up to protect himself because he expected to be beaten. But he was stabbed to the liver. He came close to dying, ”confides the detainee’s mother. Neither she nor Mr. Battah’s wife were notified of the attack or of the transport to hospital to treat his injuries.
The 23-year-old was the target of a search last fall during a major drug and firearms seizure estimated at 2.4 million in the West Island of Montreal.
Cameron Wilkinson, co-accused in this case, is also detained in Bordeaux. The man had received a bucket of boiling water a few weeks before the armed assault that led Alexandre Battah to hospital.
Settling scores
The injured man’s mother, who prefers not to make his identity public to avoid reprisals, hopes that her son will be transferred to an establishment that can guarantee his safety. “Yes, my son is a criminal, but he’s still a person’s child. It’s very difficult to see your son like that. He made a mistake, wants to get his life back in hand and has the right to safety to make this journey. ”
According to our information, a settling of scores targeting Wilkinson is at the origin of these attacks. Police searches had made it possible to seize four firearms and no less than “246,000 amphetamine tablets, 23,000 Xanax tablets, 11,500 tablets of speed and 2,500 fentanyl tablets ”. Various amounts of morphine, crystal methamphetamine, isotonitazene, Cialis, cocaine, heroin, hashish, cannabis, THC and hallucinogenic mushrooms were also identified at the scene.
According to our information, the network pinned down by the authorities is linked to Irish organized crime. A total of seven suspects were arrested.
The Ministry of Public Security did not respond to questions from Press at the time of this writing.
