Prince Harry reaches financial agreement with the publisher of the ‘Daily Mirror’ he was suing

Prince Harry has reached a financial agreement to end illegal information collection charges against the publisher of the Daily Mirror, announced Friday February 9 his lawyer David Sherborne. This agreement covers 115 articles on which the courts have not yet ruled. According to the lawyer, the publisher MGN agreed to pay a “substantial amount” to the youngest son of King Charles and to pay all legal costs. During a hearing at the High Court in London, David Sherborne mentioned an initial provision of 468,000 euros, without revealing the total amount of the agreement.

Prince Harry has initiated several legal proceedings targeting the methods of certain British media in covering his actions, particularly during his youth. The prince, exiled in the United States, had already convicted the editor of the tabloid in December for hacking telephone messages. The High Court in London ruled in favor of Prince Harry and ordered MGN to pay him 164,500 euros in damages.

The judge estimated that 15 of the 33 disputed articles retained in the proceedings were the result of hacking into the Duke of Sussex’s voicemail boxes as well as other illicit processes. The magistrate ruled that Prince Harry’s mobile phone messaging had been hacked “to a modest extent”.
