Prince Harry: His “special relationship” with Queen Elizabeth II, too much provocation for the royal family?

Despite his departure for the United States and the inflammatory statements of his wife Meghan Markle made in March 2021 in which she denounced the racism and cruelty of the British royal family, Prince Harry (37) would have kept very strong ties with his grandmother Elizabeth II. During a recent interview on the show Today of NBC, Harry thus spoke about his “very special relationship” with the Queen. Reflecting on their meeting in the UK earlier this month, he said: “It was awesome, it was so nice to see her, she is in great shape. She’s always had a great sense of humor around me and I just make sure she’s protected and around the right people. Meghan and I had tea with her so it was lovely to chat“.

This interview took place a few days before the 96th birthday of the monarch (born April 21, 1926), and just over a year after the funeral of her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh. During this interview, the 37-year-old prince also said: “For me, for now, my home is in the United States and that’s where I feel good. We were welcomed with open arms and we have a great community in Santa Barbara“.

As a reminder, the couple moved to Montecito, California following their decision to retire from royalty in 2020. Harry had previously returned to Britain to attend his grandfather’s funeral in Windsor in April 2021 and also unveiled the statue of his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales on July 1, 2021, along with her brother the Duke of Cambridge.

It’s just incendiary

On the set of the show The Royal Beat From True Royalty TV, royal family expert Roya Nikkhah revealed that the statements of Archie and Lilibet’s dad risked causing a real scandal in the royal family. She even accused the prince of “put forward” his relationship with the Queen in order to ensure that he remains credible in America, in the context of the agreement between the Sussexes and Netflix. (As a reminder, Meghan Markle is preparing in co-production with David Furnish, the husband of Sir Elton John, an animated series that should be called Pearl.) Worse, according to this same expert, Prince Harry knew full well that his revelations could annoy and “annoy“Members of the British Royal Family.

This comment was a real bomb for the rest of his family (…) There is no doubt that these two [la reine et le prince Harry] have an incredibly special and close relationship. But I think saying to an American channel, knowing that those comments are going to go around the world and come back to your family, to say that the Queen is talking to you about things that she feels she cannot say to other members of her family who see her much more regularly, it’s just incendiary” she said.
