During a recent interview on the show Today of NBC, Harry thus spoke about his “very special relationship” with the Queen. Reflecting on their meeting in the UK earlier this month, he said: “It was awesome, it was so nice to see her, she is in great shape. She’s always had a great sense of humor around me and I just make sure she’s protected and around the right people. Meghan and I had tea with her so it was lovely to chat“.
This interview took place a few days before the 96th birthday of the monarch (born April 21, 1926), and just over a year after the funeral of her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh. During this interview, the 37-year-old prince also said: “For me, for now, my home is in the United States and that’s where I feel good. We were welcomed with open arms and we have a great community in Santa Barbara“.
As a reminder, the couple moved to Montecito, California following their decision to retire from royalty in 2020. Harry had previously returned to Britain to attend his grandfather’s funeral in Windsor in April 2021 and also unveiled the statue of his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales on July 1, 2021, along with her brother the Duke of Cambridge.
