(Alexandra) A 15-year-old Abegweit First Nation girl lost her life after being hit by a motorist in Alexandra, Prince Edward Island overnight Saturday through Sunday.

Queens County RCMP officers were patrolling Wharf Road when they noticed 30 to 40 youths gathered around a campfire, which they dispersed.
During this time they were informed that a young girl had been hit by the driver of a van.
Seriously injured, the teenager succumbed to her injuries at the scene, the RCMP said in a press release.
The driver of the van and his passenger were not injured. They were the ones who alerted the police and they stayed on the scene.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the Prince Edward Island Coroner’s Office are assisting with the investigation, the RCMP said. An autopsy will also be performed.
