Queen Elizabeth II would have done well without this umpteenth twist concerning her son Prince Andrew, but what is happening is far too serious to spare the sovereign, suffering from Covid-19. After the Jeffrey Epstein affair and the financial arrangement found between the Duke of York and Virginia Giuffre, who accuses him of sexual assault when she was a minor, the 62-year-old Briton is now targeted by the testimony of a former bodyguard.
Paul Page ensured the safety of the prince between 1998 and 2004: six years to suffer the inappropriate behavior of the son of the queen according to him. Recently interviewed in 60 minutesan Australian broadcast, the security guard painted a portrait – very far from deserving a crown – of Prince Andrew: “I’m not looking for revenge, but in my mind, Andrew has to answer for several acts, including the intimidation he exerted on us. […] People need to understand that just because you have a title doesn’t mean you’re a good person“, he said on behalf of several members of his staff at the time.
Paul Page goes further in his remarks, revealing the mistreatment he allegedly suffered during his years of service: “I have suffered because of Andrew, young girls have suffered because of Andrew and other staff have suffered because of Prince Andrew. But nothing was ever done, because people were too scared“. The bodyguard even goes so far as to claim that his former boss is protected by the Windsor clan: “Having worked for him for six years, i can honestly say Andrew is totally protected by the monarchy. He was never called to account, never told he had done anything wrong and never called him to order.“.
Knowing that in the end, Prince Andrew gets away with a big check, partly signed by his mother, makes Paul Page rather bitter. That’s why he decided to speak up: “The real Prince Andrew and his true character need to be out in the open, so people can judge for themselves what kind of person he is and see the evidence for themselves“. His testimony thus corroborates that of Christine Briggs, former maid of Prince Andrew, who evoked a “horrible and wicked man“: “No one wanted the job because of his reputation with his temper tantrums and swearing. It didn’t put me off (…)I wanted to take up the challenge of taking care of the royal family“.
