The team of CAQ elected officials is “more united than ever,” assured François Legault on Thursday, the day after a caucus meeting intended to calm discontent on Wednesday evening.
The decision to award a subsidy of 5 to 7 million dollars to the Los Angeles Kings for two exhibition matches in Quebec next year had revealed fault lines in the CAQ deputation.
The refractory members, Luc Provençal (Beauce-Nord), Yannick Gagnon (Jonquière) and Éric Girard (Lac-Saint-Jean), fell into line and voted with their other colleagues against a motion from the Liberal Party (PLQ ) who denounced this subsidy Thursday morning.
“A great caucus yesterday [mercredi soir]I said what I had to say, I was heard, now we are moving forward,” Mr. Gagnon limited himself to commenting Thursday morning while going to the meeting of CAQ deputies.
In the press scrum, the Prime Minister assured that his deputies were united unanimously, while recognizing that “in this type of decision, there are pros and cons,” in his words.
“I think the opposition parties should be jealous of the unity of our caucus,” he said.
The CAQ deputies were stingy with comments Thursday morning in the National Assembly. Asked how Wednesday evening’s meeting went, most simply responded “very well.” Others preferred to remain silent.
