A former Russian Orthodox priest, who is believed to have adopted 70 children, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison on a series of charges of child abuse.

Nikolai Stremsky was convicted of multiple child rape and other violent acts in his parish in southwest Russia, BBC reports.
British media add that the man has been banished from the clergy and his honors withdrawn.
The abbot and his wife operated a foster home from the early 1990s and adopted children from orphanages in the region.
Arrested in 2019, he was investigated into crimes against seven children.
