Bruno Le Maire defends the tariff shield. The Minister of the Economy believes that “without” this device, “the increase in gas and electricity prices would be at least 100% next year!”he said on Wednesday August 31 in an interview with Echoes. This is equivalent to “an increase of 120 euros on average per month and per household”according to him. “There will be an increase in energy prices in early 2023, but it will be contained and reasonable compared to this worst-case scenario”, he recalls. He thus confirms the words of thea Energy Regulation Commission.
Elisabeth Borne had promised on Saturday that the executive was not going “not let energy prices explode” for households while the Minister of the Economy had assured that the increase in electricity and gas in 2023 would be “contained”. Once the tariff shield is completed at the end of 2022, “we will keep devices to cushion energy prices”while prices exploded on the wholesale markets, “and we will take specific measures to support the most vulnerable”had assured the Prime Minister in an interview with the Parisian/Today in France.
