“I assure you that it is very possible,” he said when asked about the possibility of not having the 500 signatures of elected officials who must have been filed by March 4, 6 p.m., at the Constitutional Council to be able to participate in the ballot on April 10 and 24.
“The mayors tell me: ‘yes, you are great, we agree with you’, but they are afraid” since their name is made public, affirmed the Reconquest candidate! .
That he does not obtain the 500 sponsorships when he is very well placed in the polls would, according to him, make the “election illegitimate”.
Éric Zemmour, the candidate of the National Rally (RN, far right) Marine Le Pen, but also the rebellious Jean-Luc Mélenchon (left) regularly complain of having difficulty obtaining the 500 signatures necessary to claim the Élysée , while they are much better placed in the polls than other candidates who have already gathered the necessary sponsorships.
“All this no longer makes sense,” said RN spokesman Laurent Jacobelli on France Info radio on Sunday.
“In all the polls, Marine Le Pen is Emmanuel Macron’s main opponent”, but “other less representative candidates are already qualified”, he added, citing Jean Lassalle and Nathalie Arthaud.
Indicating that they were still missing “80 sponsorship promises”, he denounced a “completely locked system, which no longer works”, with “mayors sometimes under the influence of local barons”.
At the last score of the Constitutional Council last Thursday, six candidates, declared or not, had already obtained the 500 sponsorships: Valérie Pécresse, Emmanuel Macron, Anne Hidalgo, Nathalie Arthaud, Fabien Roussel and Jean Lassalle.
Yannick Jadot (490 sponsorships) is almost there, which is not yet the case for Jean-Luc Mélenchon (370), Marine Le Pen (366), Éric Zemmour (291), Philippe Poutou (199), Christiane Taubira ( 86) or Hélène Thouy (74).
