(Houston) A Texan who changed his name to “Literally Anybody Else” has decided to run in November’s U.S. presidential election, which is expected to take place facing Democrat Joe Biden and Republican Donald Trump.
A 35-year-old Texas professor and veteran, who legally changed his name to “Literally Anybody Else,” is trying to collect the signatures needed to run for president, amid the prospect of the 2020 rematch between Joe Biden, 81 years old, and Donald Trump, 77 years old, does not excite a large part of American voters.
“My name is ‘Literally Anybody Else’ and I’m running for president of the United States,” he recently said in an interview with Texas channel WFAA. “It’s not really about me, it’s more about the idea” of “Anyone Else,” he explained.
Since the mid-19th centurye century, only presidents from the Republican and Democratic parties have been in power, although alternative candidates have also run.
“We can find better out of the 300 million” Americans, estimated “Literally Anybody Else”, formerly known as Dustin Ebey. “In reality, there should be another way for people like me who are fed up with this constant power grab between two parties that does not benefit people.”
“People vote for the lesser evil, not for someone they believe in or support,” he added. “They should have the option to vote for someone who looks like them and represents them.”
The candidate, who is already campaigning in a “Literally Anybody Else 2024” t-shirt, needs at least 113,000 signatures from supporters who did not vote in the primary to be considered on a ballot.
Incumbent Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are currently neck and neck in the polls.
“I’m not kidding myself. It will be very difficult, but not impossible. I’m hoping to have Donald Trump, Joe Biden and then ‘Literally Anybody Else,’ right below that,” the potential alternative candidate said.
Voters also have the option of writing “Literally Anybody Else” directly on the ballot.
