Who will be the right-wing presidential candidate in 2022? They are five to hope to represent The Republicans.
Michel Barnier, Xavier Bertrand, Éric Ciotti, Philippe Juvin and Valérie Pécresse. One of these five candidates for the candidacy will be appointed by Les Républicains (LR) up to date with their contribution. To decide between them, an electronic vote in two rounds will be organized. The first will take place from December 1 to 2 and the second from December 3 to 4, during the party congress.
Michel Barnier, 70, has already been minister on several occasions and European Commissioner. Xavier Bertrand, he is 56 years old and is president of the Hauts-de-France region. He too has been a minister before. The deputy of Alpes-Maritime, Eric Ciotti, is also qualified. He is 55 years old. Two years his senior, Philippe Juvin is a doctor and mayor of La Garenne-Colombe (Hauts-de-Seine). Finally, Valérie Pécresse, 55, chairs Île-de-France. Like Xavier Bertrand, the former minister has chosen to become a member of the Republicans again, to try to be nominated for the presidential election of 2022.
