The Electoral Campaign Control Commission could challenge Marine Le Pen’s profession of faith. Indeed, the figures which are registered there, in particular about immigration, are disputed by the Ministry of the Interior, Wednesday, April 13.
Marine Le’s profession of faith Pen isto see again? In her document sent to the 48 million voters, she targets Emmanuel Macron’s policy on security and immigration. According to his profession of faith, there would have been an augmentation of 31% from willful assaults since 2017, and 1.5 million of immigrants who have returned legally to France. On the profession of faith of the second round, it adds the Ministry of the Interior as its source. However, the ministry denies and claims that the figures do not correspond to reality.
The figure for immigrant arrivals adds up to the 250,000 residence permits issued each year. But among them, there are a third of students on average, who are supposed to return home at the end of their studies. The Electoral Campaign Control Commission therefore gave the candidate 24 hours to review her copy. “Be careful to respect democracy”said Marine Le Pen. “It’s not very very good then for the in-between rounds (…) it can lead you to have to reprint professions of faith, which is an additional cost in the campaign, and that, for a candidate, it’s a problem”notes Benjamin Morel, lecturer in public law, about the repercussions that this can have on the candidate.
