Back to billiards. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, 66, was urgently hospitalized early Monday, January 3 in Sao Paulo, due to a probable new intestinal obstruction, interrupting his vacation in the south of the country. The presidency announced the admission of the Head of State to the Paulista Hospital of Nova Star for “various examinations” consecutive to “abdominal pain”, confirming information first given by the main Brazilian media.

“The president is well and is being treated”, continues the brief official statement pending the publication of a medical bulletin. It is not yet clear whether he will need to be operated on.

Since an attempted murder with a knife in September 2018, Bolsonaro has undergone numerous operations on his abdomen for adhesions, and was treated for the same problem in July 2021, in the private hospital of Vila Nova Star where it was on Monday again.

Last July, the far-right head of state, in office since 2019, was hospitalized for four days for an occlusion in Vila Nova Star, where he was transferred after an emergency admission to Brasilia due to violent abdominal pain.
