“Precious Dream”, Hot Garbage | The duty

Toronto psyche-rock quartet Hot Garbage is off to a flying start on their second album. The monstrous guitars of Alex Carlevaris, the groove blasted by the powerful strike of drummer Mark Henein, it starts with a bang! appointed Snooze You Loosebefore branching off towards a bracing rock garage, Look at my Phone. Hot Garbage rarely takes their foot off the accelerator on this thunderous Precious Dreamotherwise on the continuation Traveller/Caravan at the end of the album, a soaring psyche-shoegaze excursion punctuated by the dull Ease my Mind, sung by bassist Juliana Carlevaris. More murky and less reliant on the sound of the 1960s than was WRINKLED (2021), Precious Dream put through the mill German kosmiche rock, post-punk (powerful Sarabandit) and hardcore guitars on this urgent, skin-deep album, recorded live in the studio with the good care of director Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck,!!!). In concert on February 10 at the Ministry with Pypy and Shunk, on the bill for the Tavern Tour.
