Léa Clermont-Dion recorded this video training. The author and documentary filmmaker recalls the main principles of the notion of consent. “It’s a great idea for the production. These are young people who find themselves in situations of seduction. If we can enlighten them on the notion of consent, it is an extraordinary form of prevention and awareness-raising,” she told The Press in a telephone interview. She believes that in this post-#metooit is relevant to recall what the notion of consent is in intimate and sexual relations.
“In the training, I talk about concrete cases where consent can be vague. How do you draw the line between a healthy relationship and a sometimes abusive one? I remind you in particular that when a person is sleeping or unconscious, he cannot give his consent to a sexual relationship. It is also about alcohol, because we often think that it justifies things. This is not the case”, underlines Léa Clermont-Dion, whose film I salute you bitchco-directed with Guylaine Maroist, will be released on September 9.
Among other training
The idea for this training came from host and producer Julie Snyder and Charles LeMay, Communications Director of Productions J. “We’ve been offering training to candidates for several years. For example, the journalist and author Lucie Pagé had met the candidates [en 2019] to tell them about South Africa before their departure to make them aware of the country’s history, which was much appreciated. So we wanted to offer other training,” explains Charles LeMay. For two years there has been the one on racism and cultural diversity presented by the lawyer and social entrepreneur Fabrice Vil, then for the third year the training on consent. “We produced Léa Clermont-Dion’s documentary You just have to complain (which can be seen on Noovo.ca), and we offered him to do this training. It is a duty that we have as a producer to do prevention on sensitive topics, ”estimates Charles LeMay.
The candidates talk about it among themselves afterwards, which we don’t see during the show, but it creates real discussions.

This training on consent is very useful. Should we all have one after all? “Yes, we should all take this training! “, answers Léa Clermont-Dion. “These are notions that we take for granted, but there are many myths conveyed on the subject and reminders to be made. I often hear people say: “We can’t flirt anymore post-#weather !” It’s not true. A distinction must be made between flirting and sexual assault: when an act is against a person’s will, it is an assault. We must also remember that we must listen to our partner in sexual relations or that sharing naked photos of our friends can have very serious consequences, ”she explains.
This training on consent is for internal use only, specifies the director of communications of Productions J, Charles LeMay. Why not put it on the site ofDouble occupation and share it with viewers? “It’s a good idea, we’ll think about it. »
Reality TV Double occupancy in Martinique begins September 11 on Noovo. The identity of the candidates will be revealed on Wednesday.
And in hockey?
Léa Clermont-Dion launched on Facebook the idea of giving this training on consent to hockey players. “I got a call! I can’t say more, but it’s to be continued. It’s good to open the dialogue and to meet the hockey players, because I fundamentally believe that we can avoid sad situations. If young people are made aware of consent, we can avoid tragedies,” says the author and documentary filmmaker.
