Pray for whom? | The duty

In front of the faithful gathered at the Vatican, Pope Francis called for a “special prayer” for his predecessor. “To keep his memory alive, because he is seriously ill, to ask the Lord to console him and support him to the end in this testimony of love to the Church,” he added. Who do we pray for? For those who are suffering, who are freezing to death, who are starving, alone and forgotten, without hope for tomorrow? Why do we pray? To be forgiven, to have a clear conscience, to save humanity? Why do we pray? We pray for him… who ends his life in a monastery located in the heart of the Vatican gardens in a residence that has the necessary equipment to avoid his hospitalization.

We pray to forget… that he was implicated by a report in Germany on his handling of sexual violence when he was Archbishop of Munich.

Prayer isn’t expensive, but it shouldn’t be wasted, there are plenty of old people who deserve better than dying alone in a residence for the elderly.
