In Sologne, tensions are extremely strong on the subject. There are no less than 5000km of fence identified, intended to enclose the animals reserved for hunting. This creates discord, especially because hunters, environmental activists or elected officials are on the same wavelength and are asking for their withdrawal.

Behind fences, stags or fallow deer. These animals are actually intended for hunting and this creates controversy. Wild boars, for example, live locked up in a few hundred hectares before being delivered to hunters. A member of an animal defense association has infiltrated these wild hunts. “We do five beats, you will always have a shooting opportunity during the day”addresses a man to the hunters in a video filmed with a hidden camera.

Raymond Louis, from the Association des Amis des Chemins de Sologne, is also a hunter but can no longer stand the 5,000 km of fences. “It looks like we are on a prison walk, it is excruciating to see such things”, he cursed. When some animals manage to escape from the enclosure, they can end up impaled on the fences. The mayor of Aubigny-sur-Nère (Cher) has therefore decided to ban fences over four feet under penalty of a fine.
