Powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 hits central Japan

(Tokyo) A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 struck central Japan on Monday morning without causing a tsunami warning, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) announced.


The tremor, which was felt at 6:31 a.m. (5:31 p.m. Eastern time Sunday), hit the Noto peninsula, already hit hard by an earthquake on 1er last January, which caused the death of 230 people.
