JiYue, a new automotive brand launched by Geely and Baidu, is making its mark with the Robo X, a high-performance supercar. This striking vehicle features a design inspired by Lotus, a lightweight carbon fiber chassis, and an impressive acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.9 seconds. Introducing JiYue: A New Contender in the Automotive World

If JiYue is a name you’ve yet to come across, you’re not alone. This emerging brand, officially known as Hangzhou Ji Yue Automobile Technology, was founded just last year. The company is a collaborative effort between the Chinese automotive giant Geely, which owns renowned brands like Volvo and Lotus, and the tech powerhouse Baidu.

The Robo X: A Revolutionary Supercar

JiYue has already made waves in the automotive industry with two initial models: an SUV and a sedan named 07, which is geared to compete with the Tesla Model S. However, JiYue is now setting its sights on the supercar market, recently unveiling its latest innovation, the Robo X, through its Weibo page.

The Robo X is an extraordinary sports car, showcasing a design reminiscent of Lotus vehicles—no surprise given their shared parent company. Engineered for optimal aerodynamics, the exact drag coefficient is still under wraps, but the car boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 4.65 meters in length, 2.0 meters in width, and a sleek height of just 1.20 meters.

Aggressive styling defines the Robo X, featuring a striking front with a prominent blade at the bumper’s base, along with air intakes cleverly integrated into the hood and roof. The rear design is equally impressive, incorporating air vents that echo the aesthetics of traditional supercars. Below, a wide diffuser and a spoiler contribute to enhanced aerodynamic performance at high speeds, while conventional mirrors are retained instead of cameras.

Inside, the cabin offers a sporty and minimalist driving experience with butterfly doors providing access. Central to the dashboard is a touchscreen interface, and the electric supercar is equipped with an artificial intelligence system represented by a virtual assistant named Simo. The chassis is constructed entirely from carbon fiber, keeping the vehicle’s weight at a competitive 1,850 kilograms.

In terms of performance, the Robo X is expected to produce over 2,000 horsepower from its four electric motors. While precise specifications remain a mystery, it is known to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a blistering 1.9 seconds—a figure that rivals the anticipated performance of the Tesla Roadster.

The manufacturer claims a range of 650 kilometers based on the Chinese CLTC cycle, translating to approximately 500 kilometers under the WLTP standard. In comparison, the Yangwang U9 offers a slightly longer range of up to 700 kilometers CLTC, but with a weightier power output of around 1,300 horsepower. What truly sets JiYue apart is its implementation of level 4 autonomous driving technology, allowing the Robo X to operate on a racetrack without a driver—a feature that’s both impressive and forward-thinking.

Utilizing Baidu’s Apollo tech—similar to Tesla’s approach—the Robo X relies solely on cameras and does not incorporate LiDAR sensors. Reservations for this groundbreaking vehicle have just opened, requiring a deposit of 49,999 yuan (approximately 6,528 euros). However, potential buyers should be prepared for a wait, as production is not slated to commence until 2027.
