Pow Pow shines at the Bédélys awards

The organization of the Montreal BD Festival has revealed the finalists for the Bédélys awards. The Pow Pow publishing house dominates the selection in the prestigious Bédélys Québec category: four of the five titles in the running are associated with it.

It is Are You Willing to Die for the Cause by Chris Oliveros (published by Drawn & Quarterly, but in French translation by Pow Pow), Botanica Drama by Thom, Secret Passages Volume 1 by Axelle Lenoir and Sheriff Junior by Samuel Cantin. The fifth title is The disadvantages of happiness by François Donatien published by Nouvelle Address.

Authors like Iris Boudreau (I don’t like your dress), Richard Suicide (Dollarama notebook) and Geneviève Bigué (Hell of A Night) are among the finalists in various other categories. The winners of the Bédélys prizes will be revealed on May 23, the day before the opening of the Montreal BD Festival, which will be held until May 26.
