(Quebec) The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating a fatal fire that occurred in the last few hours in Estrie.

Firefighters were called around 4 a.m. Saturday morning to the scene of a commercial building that housed a garage and an apartment on Airport Road in the Mansonville area of Potton.
“When the fire was brought under control, the body of a person was discovered by the fire department,” said Sergeant Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
It was impossible to say immediately whether it was the body of a man or a woman, or even a tenant of the premises.
“The identification of the victim must be made to the satisfaction of the coroner,” said the spokesperson for the SQ.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time as is the cause of death. A security perimeter was erected around the building, where a fire scene technician from the SQ was expected to determine the cause and the circumstances surrounding the event.
“As there was a death, it is the Major Crimes Investigation Division of the Sûreté du Québec which is responsible for the investigation,” said Sergeant Bernard.
The SQ investigation is continuing.
