Potential firearm theft in a Sûreté du Québec police station

A service weapon is said to have disappeared from one of the Sûreté du Québec stations on Saturday and has still not been located Sunday morning.

“The SQ is verifying the absence of a firearm from one of its positions,” said agent Catherine Bouchard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

“A crime scene technician came as well as the major crime investigation team,” said the officer. The type of weapon is not known for the moment but it could be that ammunition was also missing.

Checks were carried out overnight from Saturday to Sunday in an attempt to find the weapon and the investigation is continuing.
