The Avignon prosecutor’s office opens an investigation Thursday, May 18 against X for insulting the president and for provoking rebellion, after the display of portraits of Emmanuel Macron made up as Hitler in Avignon, France Bleu Vaucluse learned Thursday May 18. The town hall asks the Clear Channel display to remove the posters. The company speaks “wild display in the night“.
The posters appeared in Avignon on Ascension Thursday, on the main axes of the city. They show the image of Emmanuel Macron caricatured as Hitler with a mustache where it is written “49.3“.

The posters refer to the controversial painting by the graffiti artist Lekto in the parking lot of the Italians. The poster also features the hashtag “act or undergo” and a formula signed Gandhi: “Civil disobedience becomes a sacred duty when the state becomes outlawed or corrupt.“. The mention the reference : “This is a satirical poster” (sic) is also affixed to the bottom of the poster. The graffiti artist Lekto is already being prosecuted in another investigation, for incitement to hatred, after this fresco in the parking lot representing Emmanuel Macron as a puppet manipulated by the economist Jacques Attali.
In all, dozens of portraits were plastered on Clear Channel display racks and in bus shelters. The town hall of Avignon asked Clear Channel on Thursday, May 18 to remove these posters during the day. The company confirms the same day to France Bleu Vaucluse that it “this is a totally wild display that took place overnight“. Clear Channel teams are “mobilized to remove the posters as soon as possible“. By April, the mural had been covered in 24 hours.
The Renaissance en Vaucluse presidential party denounces these posters in several messages posted on social networks.
