A 38-year-old woman and her two children aged 5 and 2 were found dead overnight from Saturday to Sunday in their Brossard home. Longueuil police consider these deaths to be a triple homicide.
A fire broke out around 1 a.m. Sunday morning in the victims’ accommodation located in a residential tower on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, on the banks of the river. First responders, once there, were able to contain the fire and made the macabre discovery. In order not to interfere with the investigation, the Longueuil agglomeration police department (SPAL) did not indicate whether the bodies of the victims showed signs of violence. The perimeter has been cordoned off. Investigators are at work to understand the circumstances of the tragedy.
A man considered “as an important witness” was arrested at the scene, noted the SPAL without specifying whether he himself was considered a suspect. The man in question is currently being questioned by the police.
The names of the victims have not been released out of respect for their loved ones.
The other tenants of the apartment tower did not have to leave their homes. The fire was contained inside the victim’s home.
