Calls were received at 911 following explosions heard around 6 p.m. at the corner of boulevard Gouin Est and rue de Lille.
“According to the version obtained from the witnesses met, shots were fired and two suspects then fled on foot,” summarized agent Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service.
However, no victim or projectile impact was immediately detected by the investigators.
Casings were found on the spot, but analyzes were in progress at the beginning of the evening to ensure that they came from a real firearm, said the spokesperson.
An investigation has been opened to try to find out more about this umpteenth event potentially involving a firearm to occur in the metropolis.
This new episode comes after a particularly trying weekend, marked by at least five assaults, including two involving firearms last Friday.
