Possible feminicide | A 29-year-old woman victim of murder in Granby

The body of a 29-year-old woman was found Friday evening in an apartment in Granby, in Estrie. A few hours later, a 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with this case.


Granby police officers were called to go to an apartment on Elgin Street, near the city center of the Estrie municipality, around 8 p.m. Friday. On site, they found an unresponsive 29-year-old woman, said Louis-Philippe Ruel, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. His body bore traces of violence, he adds.

Later in the evening, around 10:30 p.m., a 32-year-old suspect was apprehended 175 kilometers away, in the Laurier-Station sector, in Chaudière-Appalaches.

The suspect is currently being met by investigators, specifies Mr. Ruel. He could appear in connection with the murder on Saturday.
