(Beijing) The Sports Court (CAS) announced on Saturday in Beijing that it had received appeals from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) about the positive control of Russian skater Kamila Valieva.

In its press release, the CAS, which received the calls from the IOC and WADA on Friday evening in Beijing, specifies without giving more details that it will meet “quickly” to make a decision.
The IOC and WADA are appealing the decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (Rusada), taken on Wednesday, to lift the provisional suspension of the Russian skater, who tested positive during a test carried out in December.
Kamila Valieva, 15, was tested at the Russian Championships in St. Petersburg on Dec. 25 by Rusada, who only received a positive test result on Tuesday.
The substance identified is trimetazidine, used to relieve angina pectoris and banned by the WADA since 2014, because it promotes blood circulation.
Rusada initially temporarily suspended the skater, titled at the Olympic Games the day before with the Russian team, then on Wednesday, Valieva appealed and obtained the lifting of her suspension, which allows her to continue to participate in the Games.
The CAS decision is all the more expected as Valieva is entered in the individual event which begins on Tuesday.
It could also affect the ranking of the team event won by Russia, which competes under a neutral flag, ahead of the United States and Japan, with Canada taking fourth place.
For her first winter in seniors, Valieva is so far undefeated: she notably won the European title in mid-January. During the team competition of the 2022 Olympics, she distinguished herself by signing the very first women’s quadruple jumps in Olympic history.
