Sevilla striker En-Nesyri was the lone scorer for the Atlas Lions with a spectacular header in the 42nd minute.

In the semi-final on Wednesday, the Moroccans will face the winner of the England-France quarter-final.

Ronaldo equals a record

Cristiano Ronaldo came on in the 51st minute, replacing midfielder Ruben Neves as his team trailed 1-0. He shares this record with the Kuwaiti Bader al-Mutawa.

The five-time Ballon d’Or, who is 37 years old, had his first selection in August 2003, at 18 years old. The World Cup in Qatar is his fifth and he is the only player in history to have scored at least one goal in five World Cups.

In Qatar, he scored from the penalty spot in his team’s first game against Ghana. But in the 1/8 final against Switzerland as in the quarter-final against Morocco, he started the match on the bench.
