Becoming an astronaut is a childhood dream come true for Frenchwoman Sophie Adenot. At 41, she is the second French woman to have been chosen to go into space. In May 2023, during her training year in Germany, she expressed her happiness. “For me, today is like Christmas Day”she rejoiced.
The first French woman helicopter test pilot
An aeronautical engineer, she joined the air force in 2005. Two years later, the woman who rose to the rank of lieutenant-colonel became the first French woman helicopter test pilot. In 2022, Sophie Adenot tries her luck at the European Space Agency. For just five places, there are 22,000 applicants. The next destination for Sophie Adenot is Sinternational space station, with the hope of once again writing her name in history by becoming the first woman to set foot on the Moon.
