Pope Francis, who has increased cries of alarm in the face of global warming, announced on Wednesday, November 1, that he would go to the COP28 on climate in the United Arab Emirates at the beginning of December. “I’m going to Dubai. I think I’m leaving December 1st until December 3rd. I’ll be there for three days,” he said in an interview with Italian public television channel Rai1. This will be the first time that a pope will participate in person at a COP summit since its creation in 1995.

This city in the United Arab Emirates will host the UN climate conference from November 30 to December 12, the aim of which is to achieve a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. It aims to help developing countries cope with the consequences of climate change, after a year marked by devastating weather events.
