After two hours of mass and in front of a Saint Peter’s Square (Italy) filled with faithful, Pope Francis closed Holy Week, as planned, on Sunday March 31.
With his Urbi et Orbi blessing to the city and the world, the Pope largely devoted his speech to conflicts on this Easter Sunday. “I call for a general exchange of all prisoners between Russia and Ukraine. Furthermore, I once again call for guaranteed access for humanitarian aid to Gaza by once again urging a rapid release hostages”he declared in front of the crowd gathered in Saint-Pierre Square.
The faithful reassured
After a few hours of uncertainty linked to the absence of the Pope at the Stations of the Cross on Friday March 29, Francis reassured by presiding over the Easter vigil last night, appearing rather in good shape and smiling. “For someone who follows all the services of Holy Week, we know that it takes a lot of energy, I am happy that he rested”, testifies a faithful. This ceremony, one of the most attended of the year, brought together nearly 60,000 faithful in Rome which was placed under close surveillance for this Easter weekend, for fear of attacks.
