Pope Francis hospitalized in Italy with a respiratory infection

Pope Francis was admitted to hospital in Rome, Italy on Wednesday March 29. The 86-year-old pontiff suffers from a respiratory infection and will remain hospitalized for several days. In the morning, the pope was still taking a walk in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican. As usual, he presided over the Wednesday hearing, always concerned with the affairs of the world. “We pray for the migrants who perished in the tragic fire in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico”, did he declare. The pope’s audiences scheduled for the next few days have all been cancelled.

Charles III’s visit to Germany

For his first official trip, Charles III landed in Berlin, Germany, on Wednesday March 29. The British king was welcomed by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the very day of the sixth anniversary of Brexit. Unusually, Charles III came out of his reserve to support Ukraine against Russia. The British sovereign and the German president also planted a tree together in memory of Queen Elizabeth II.
