What starts to scratch your nose are the pollens, which are back with the good weather. If you are allergic to birch, ash, grasses, plane trees or cupressaceae (such as cypress), the allergic risk is already “medium” to “high” in most departments of metropolitan France in this moment. Around the Mediterranean and in other departments, it even reaches the “very high” risk according to the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA).
For those allergic to birch pollen, the bad season will begin this week. The forecast models announce significant concentrations from this weekend over a large northern half of the country. We should find birch pollen over a large part of the country until the end of April. Concentrations will be high, especially on beautiful sunny days. Be aware that episodes of air pollution can accentuate symptoms.
The allergic risk in the coming days
Cupressaceae pollen. In the Mediterranean region, the risk of allergy is high in several departments even if the concentrations continue to decrease.
Birch pollen. Birch pollen concentrations will increase throughout the next few days, the risk of allergy is already at an average level in several departments north of a Bordeaux-Grenoble line. People with allergies must follow the treatments prescribed by doctors. With the good weather announced, the next few days will be difficult for those allergic to this pollen.
Ash pollen. They cause an allergy risk that is often medium or even high in Normandy and Isère.
Grass pollen. On the western side of the country: low to medium risk of allergy, locally.
Plane tree pollen. They will bother the most sensitive people in the Mediterranean and in some large cities where they are often present.
