A few days before the first round of the presidential election, it is still the sponsorship race for candidates who are not against the support of certain French personalities.
Politics and show business are two sectors that can sometimes be very close. Indeed, in French history, many candidates for the presidential election have received the support of influential stars. A support that can sometimes prove to be very valuable. However, this rapprochement between artist and presidential candidate is increasingly rare. For example, Johnny Hallyday was a big fan of politics and did not hesitate to get involved.
Alongside Jacques Chirac or even Nicolas Sarkozy, the star singer was often partner in presidential campaigns during his lifetime. “Yes, he could afford to call the presidents when he had something to ask them. But originally it was the president saying Johnny ‘if you need me, I’ll be there for you'”, explains Benjamin Locoge, Head of the culture department at Paris Match. Between the presidents and Johnny, it’s 50 years of friendship and dismissal.
