Romain Grau, LREM deputy was attacked on Saturday January 22 by a crowd of anti-sanitary pass demonstrators. One more aggression in an increasingly tense climate since the Yellow Vests crisis.
Romain Grau was the target of a very violent attack. Slapped, hit and insulted, the deputy LREM lived a real nightmare. However, this attack is far from isolated. Since the Yellow Vests crisis, attacks on elected officials have jumped 200% in one year.
More and more elected officials are attacked on a daily basis. So much so that some opt for surveillance cameras. This is the case of Laetitia Saint-Paul, deputy (LREM) who receives regular threats on social networks, a place where this scourge is spreading more and more. His home is guarded day and night by gendarmerie patrols. Death threats received by elected officials are now centralized by the Paris prosecutor’s office. There are currently 250 cases and 150 victims since July and the protest against the health pass.
