On social networks, Julia Faustyna, a 21-year-old Polish, claims to be Maddie McCann, a Briton kidnapped in Portugal in 2007 at the age of 4. The young woman asks for a DNA test.

Since her disappearance in Portugal in 2007, the name and photo of Maddie McCann, then aged 4, have haunted the British. Is it resurfacing, 15 years later? A few days ago, a young Polish woman created an account on Instagram with an explicit name. “I am Madeleine McCann”, she says. She shows her moles and especially a stain in the eye, a characteristic sign of Maddie, highlighted in the calls for witnesses of the time.

But the missing girl would now be 19 years old and the age of the one who presents herself as Julia Faustyna does not correspond. “According to my papers, I’m 21, but I think when someone kidnaps a child, they probably change their identity and date of birth”, says the one who says she has no childhood memories. No one is able to confirm the assertions of the young woman, who requests a DNA test to establish the truth. According to the British press, a family member would have agreed to participate, so as not to close any leads. This testimony could be an unexpected outcome, when since 2020 a German has been suspected of the murder of the young girl, or yet another false alarm.
