A police officer was severely beaten in the Val d’Oise while he was in a plainclothes train on November 2. Pre-trial detention was requested for the alleged perpetrators.

This November 2, after his day of patrolling Gare du Nord, the official takes off his police uniform and goes home in civilian clothes. On a train heading north to Paris, four individuals verbally assault him, attempting to steal his cell phone and wallet, and beat him up.

The four people were beating him down and calling him a ‘shit cop‘”, reports Grégory Joron, member of the Unity SGP-police FO union.”He has a broken nose, a dislocated shoulder, swollen orbit floors. They punched him a lot in the face. Clearly they went after him because he was a policeman“.

The policeman owes his salvation to two passengers who intervene and fire the train’s alarm signal. The individuals fled and then were arrested in Frépillon, in the Val d’Oise, after assaulting several other people. The public prosecutor opened an investigation for “attempted murder of a person holding public authority“. A remand in custody of the four individuals has been requested.
