Police operation in Sherbrooke: he stabs a man and hides in his home

A police operation was underway Monday afternoon in Sherbrooke to arrest an individual who allegedly stabbed another man inside an apartment building.

Around 1:10 p.m., the police were called to an apartment located at 859 King Street West, where a person had just been stabbed.

The victim was taken to hospital to treat his injuries.

The suspect in this assault was quickly located in one of the apartments in the building, but reportedly refused to surrender.

“A negotiation has begun,” said agent Martin Carrier, spokesperson for the Sherbrooke police, by email.

The police intervention forced the indefinite closure of King Street West, between Richmond Street and Queen-Victoria Boulevard.

An investigation has been opened to establish the circumstances surrounding this stabbing.
