Police are investigating the death of a 3-year-old child that occurred Monday evening in a residence in Bois-des-Filion, on the North Shore of Montreal.
Authorities were called to a home on 34th Avenue around 5:30 p.m. after receiving a call reporting that a “young” child was seriously injured.
When they arrived, the first patrol officers were able to see that a child was in distress. Unfortunately, despite resuscitation maneuvers, his death could only be noted on the spot, reported Vincent Charbonneau, spokesperson for the Terrebonne/Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines/Bois-des-Filion intermunicipal police service. .
No details were available in the evening to explain the cause of the child’s death, in particular whether his body showed signs of violence.
Several witnesses were to be met during the evening by the Régie de police, which receives the support of the Sûreté du Québec in this matter. No arrests were immediately announced.

Residents of this peaceful neighborhood told TVA Nouvelles that the deceased child was a three-year-old boy.
A neighbor even said she heard the screams of the young boy’s mother when she arrived home. The woman was visibly distressed.
