A madman opened fire on police Sunday morning in Montreal, without causing any injuries.
The patrollers were first called, around 6:40 a.m., to go to a single-family residence on rue Saint-Zotique, near 26th Avenue in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, following a a call signaling a man in crisis.
“When the police arrived on the scene, the man opened fire in their direction,” said Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department.
Despite this, officers were able to subdue the suspect and make his arrest without bloodshed. No one was injured during the event.
A 75-year-old “family member” was also in the house at the time of the incident.
The suspect, a 43-year-old man, has a criminal record for various criminal offenses whose nature has not been specified, said the spokesperson.
The suspect is to be met by investigators during the day. An investigation was also opened at the home to try to find out more about what led to this new incident of armed violence.
