On the morning of Monday, November 8, a man tried to stab a police officer, installed in his vehicle, in the town of Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes), before being hit by several riposte bullets from other police officers present on site. An act filmed by surveillance cameras in the city. No injuries are counted on the side of the police, in particular thanks to the bulletproof vest. “The bulletproof vest protected the policeman”, explains David Lisnard, mayor of Cannes.

The stabbing perpetrator attacked two police officers before being seriously wounded by gunshots. Hospitalized, his vital prognosis is engaged. Despite no physical injuries, the four police officers who were victims of the knife attack are still in shock. “They are particularly hurt morally, psychologically, psychologically”, says Laurent Martin of Fremont, from the SGP Unit union Police-FO of the Alpes-Maritimes. The investigation is entrusted to the judicial police, while the anti-terrorism prosecution did not take charge of the case, despite claims from the assailant.
