An Israeli police officer was killed in an armed attack which also left ten people injured on Sunday October 6 in the city of Beersheba, according to emergency services. “Rescuers pronounced the death of a 25-year-old woman and evacuated ten injured people to Soroka hospital”announced in a press release the Magen David Adom, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, some injured having been shot and others stabbed.
The attacker was “eliminated in a few seconds by the security forces on site”said the police. She identified the victim as Shira Chaya Soslik, a police sergeant from the border guard unit, “fell in a confrontation with the terrorist”.
The Israeli army was put on alert on Sunday, for fear of attacks, on the eve of the first anniversary of the unprecedented attack by Hamas on Israeli soil which sparked the war in Gaza. Seven people were killed Tuesday with automatic weapons and stabbing by two Palestinians from the occupied West Bank, one killed and the other seriously injured, at a tram station in Tel Aviv, in the center of Israel.
