Police intervention in Montreal | A policewoman seriously injured by a garage door

A Montreal police officer suffered serious injuries after being caught in an automatically activated garage door on Friday evening. She was attempting to assist colleagues in the arrest of robbery suspects.

A police officer is hospitalized and risks having to undergo surgery after an accident in the middle of a police operation on Friday evening. However, his life is not in danger.

The police officer was trying to assist colleagues in a building near de l’Acadie and Henri-Bourassa boulevards, in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville sector, when she was caught in an automatic garage door.

She remained crushed like this for “several minutes and taken to the hospital with major lower body injuries,” says Rafaël Bergeron, media relations officer for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).

The police intervention followed a robbery that occurred around 7 p.m. on rue Saint-Denis, in Plateau-Mont-Royal. Three suspects were later located in this building in the north of the city. It was while trying to come as reinforcements for the arrest of the suspects that the disaster occurred.
