Police custody for the director of Charlieu hospital, suspected of having embezzled 250,000 euros

It is our colleagues from the Pays Roannais who reveal the case: the director of the Charlieu hospital and the Saint-Nizier-sous-Charlieu nursing home is in police custody since this Wednesday morning. Gaëlle Jackson is suspected of having embezzled 250 thousand euros of public funds in nearly five years.

The investigation began more than a year ago, following a report from the Regional Health Agency to the Roanne public prosecutor, Abdelkrim Grini. The ARS, specifies the prosecutor, had noted during a control of “anomalies and inconsistencies” in the accounts of the two health establishments. The investigations of the gendarmes therefore resulted in searches carried out this Wednesday morning at the home of Gaëlle Jackson then in her office in Charlieu.

Contract of convenience awarded to a relative

Placed in police custody in the premises of the Roanne research squad, Gaëlle Jackson is suspected of having attributed a contract of convenience to CD Conseil Assistance. This security consulting company, based in the Gard, was created “a few months before the award of the contract and had no employees. It was managed by a man [aujourd’hui décédé] with whom the suspect maintained close ties “ underlines the prosecutor of Roanne. “The investigations, he continues, could not find the slightest trace of an activity carried out by this company. Obviously, this contract was fictitious. ”

Backpayments for the director

Those fictitious services were billed to the Charlieu hospital and the Saint-Nizier-sous-Charlieu nursing home from June 2015 for almost five years, for approximately 57,000 euros per year. The invoices paid by the Public Treasury reach almost 250 thousand euros. Aggravating factor in the eyes of the prosecutor: part of the money paid to CD Conseil Assistance was transferred to Gaëlle Jackson’s personal accounts. His police custody was extended for twenty-four hours.
