The police are asking for the public’s help to advance their investigation into the attempted murder of an alleged influential member of organized crime that occurred on March 15 in the Fabreville district of Laval.
Police are not naming the victim of the firearm projectiles, but all indications, according to several news media, that it is Leonardo Rizzuto, son of the former godfather of the Montreal mafia, Vito Rizzuto.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on March 15, while the victim was traveling west on Highway 440 in his Mercedes vehicle, the occupant of a black Porsche Macan allegedly fired several times in his management, according to the police.
The investigation reveals that a second vehicle, a red Porsche Macan, could also be linked to this attempted murder.
The driver of the Mercedes took exit 17 leading to Highway 13 southbound and drove to the parking lot of a funeral complex in the Sainte-Dorothée district. He had his life saved.
The National Organized Crime Repression Squad (ENRCO) and police officers from the Major Crimes Investigation Division of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) are looking for relevant information regarding the vehicles involved in this attempted murder.
People who believe they have such information are invited to go until 5 p.m. on Tuesday to a mobile police command post which is parked opposite 1904 boulevard des Laurentides, in Laval, near the intersection of boulevard Saint-Elzear.
