The albums of three Quebec artists are among the 10 records selected for the Polaris Prize: PICTURA DE IPSE: direct music by Hubert Lenoir, José Louis and the Paradox of Love by Pierre Kwenders and Frame of a Fauna of Uri. Acadian Lisa LeBlanc is also one of the finalists with chic disco.

The selection unveiled Thursday also includes albums by Destroyer, Charlotte Day Wilson, Shad, Kelly McMichael, Ombiigizi and Snotty Nose Rez Kids. The 10 selected artists had already taken a step last month by making their place in the preselection, which included 40 albums.
Hubert Lenoir and Lisa LeBlanc find themselves among the finalists for the second time: the first had been selected in 2018 for his album Darlenewhile the second had been the previous year for Why You Wanna Leave, Runaway Queen?. Ouri, a Montreal artist of French origin, is there for the first time since Frame of a Fauna is his first album.
The 2022 Polaris winner will be announced Sept. 19 at a gala held in Toronto and webcast on CBC Music, which aired a two-hour special on Thursday to reveal the names of the 10 finalists and make hear some of their songs.
The Polaris Music Prize comes with a $50,000 scholarship. The finalists will receive $3,000 each. Hip-hop artist Cadence Weapon won the accolade last year for his album Parallel World.
Klô Pelgag and Dominique Fils-Aimé were then among the finalists.
